Festival of Braidwood Committee

Town Crier to Open The Festival

We are very fortunate this year to have the services of an official town crier ( Alan Moyse, Canberra’s Official Town Crier) to open the festival at 10 am in Ryrie Park and then announce the various events during the day in the park.

Heritage Cricket Day

Braidwood Services club Triumphs on the Heritage Cricket day 2012.

The Braidwood heritage committee held a cricket day on Saturday the 17th of November with eight teams participating all up. Six senior and two junior teams. The day was full of fun and games for everyone and was a great success.

Around 250 people enjoyed the day. The day started with the kids teams hitting off at 9.00am and finished with all participants receiving medals and prizes. All medals and prizes were generously donated once again by our great community bank of Braidwood (Thank you again to our great supporters The Braidwood Community Bank)

Senior teams were representing Araluen, Majors Creek, Braidwood Servicemen’s Club, Braidwood Community Bank, St Bedes School and Essential Energy (High Voltage).

After nine games for the day at the end it saw Braidwood Servicemen’s Club defeat St Bedes School and walk away with the 2012 Community Bank Heritage day trophy.

A big “Thank you” Once again to our great SES of Braidwood who gave up their time and provided a great kids area again with plenty of shade. You guys made the day a lot more bearable for the kids to keep well shaded and happy. Also our Great face painter Francis who never stopped all day with the great colourful faces all around the rec ground.

Thank you to our umpires David Goddard and Bill Gunderson,…..Bill who Travelled all the way from Sydney for the event. Finally the Heritage committee would like to say a huge thank you to our Terrific Braidwood Community Bank and many volunteers and participants. Without this generous support this day would not be able to happen.

We will see you all again next year when we win the trophy back from The Braidwood Servicemen’s Club in 2013

The next Braidwood Community Bank Heritage Cricket day will be held on the 16th of November 2013
